Dr. Wood has expertise with Canvas, Brightspace D2L, and Blackboard learning management systems. Heather was trained in online teaching best practices by Canvas Instructure, Quality Matters, and the Online Learning Consortium. She holds multiple certifications from Canvas, ACUE, Quality Matters, and Deque University's Accessibility training program. As Associate Professor of English at University of New Mexico, she designed the First-Year Writing templates in Blackboard and led the faculty online training course, a blended, eight-week workshop for instructors in all disciplines. Her certifications include: Canvas Core Educator 1-4, QM Designing Your Online Course, QM Improving Your Online Course, Applying the QM Rubric, QM Peer Reviewer Certification, and QM Sixth Edition Rubric Update.
